Birka BioStorage Powers Up One of the Region’s Largest Solar Installations to Advance Sustainable Energy Goals
Lund, Sweden – September 19, 2025 – Birka BioStorage, a leading provider of secure and compliant storage solutions for the life science industry, announces the commissioning of a major solar power installation at its Lund facility. The new system consists of 1,050 solar panels, making it one of the largest privately operated solar installations in the region.
This milestone represents a significant step forward in Birka’s long-term sustainability strategy, aimed at sourcing clean and reliable energy to power its operations. Supported by the property owner Björnstorps Gods, the installation is expected to cover around 60% of Birka’s current annual electricity consumption, equivalent to approximately 900 MWh per year. By generating this amount of renewable electricity, Birka will avoid an estimated 300 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually, 200 tons of standard coal saved, equal to 400 planted trees, further reducing its environmental footprint.
